The cool touch and comforting scent of the violin resting below my chin, the weight of the slender bow under my fingers, and the sight of the elegant arcs of wood becomes an extension of myself. With each new piece of repertoire I discover, the song of my violin evokes a spectrum of emotions, ranging from the fiery, virtuostic concertos to lyrical, romantic songs. Creating my own music is to instill a sense of pride and accomplishment into me, my instrument becoming my vessel. I practice music not only for my own enjoyment, but also to perform to and with others. As a part of Golden State Youth Orchestra’s Symphony Orchestra, the challenging repertoire demands consistent practice so I am able to spread the music to the audience.
